Fused silica and quartz are used to manufacture components widely used in the optical and semiconductor industry.

Commonly the terms fused silica and fused quartz are not clearly distinguished. Fused silica is a synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide of high purity. In our case it is produced by pyrolysis of silicontetrachloride (SiCl4) in a hydrogen-oxygen flame. The raw material of fused quartz is a natural crystal mined from the earth as rock crystal or pegmatitic quartz. It is then manufactured by fusing granulated crystals in a hydrogen-oxygen flame and selected to different qualities.

Sico Technology is producing two types of quartzglass

  • natural fused quartz SILUX

    SILUX®- Glasses are produced by flame fusing chemically and physically pretreated and selected natural crystal or pegmatitic quartz.

  • synthetic fused silica SQE, SQ 0, SQ1, SQ 2

    SQ-Glasses are synthetic quartz glasses produced from high purity SiCl4, by the flame pyrolysis method. These glasses are free of bubbles and inclusions and are distinguished from other glasses by good transmission in UV and visible spectral range. The types SQ0 – SQ2 are different regarding to homogeneity, layers, inclusions and transmission in the deep UV range.
